Food regulator FSSAI has intervened after inspectors discovered Wai Wai's bhujia, made from noodles, lying on the production floor. The agency has ordered corrective action against the manufacturer.

New Delhi, Sept 4 (India Today) – The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) launched an inspection at the Wai Wai snack plant after a routine check revealed bhujia packets that were actually made from noodles and were left uncovered on the factory floor.

Regulatory officials said the discovery breaches multiple food‑safety norms, including the use of undeclared ingredients and improper handling of ready‑to‑eat products. The agency has directed the company to halt production of the affected batch, retrieve any stock already distributed, and submit a detailed corrective action plan within a stipulated timeframe.

Wai Wai, a prominent brand in the Indian snack market, has not yet issued a public comment on the matter. The FSSAI has warned that non‑compliance could lead to further penalties, including suspension of licence, if the company fails to meet the remedial requirements.

Consumers are advised to check product labels carefully and report any irregularities to local authorities. The incident underscores the regulator's heightened vigilance in ensuring that packaged foods meet declared standards and safety protocols.
