From October 1, a series of ten regulatory revisions covering LPG pricing, fixed‑deposit norms, SBI ATM transactions and life‑certificate filing will come into force, impacting consumers’ finances.

The government and financial regulators have announced a set of ten rule changes that will take effect on 1 October. Among the revisions, the pricing mechanism for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) will be adjusted, which could alter the cost of cooking fuel for households across the country.

In the banking sector, the State Bank of India (SBI) will modify its ATM transaction limits, affecting how customers withdraw cash and conduct other ATM services. Simultaneously, the procedures for submitting life‑certificate documents for pensioners and senior citizens will be updated, streamlining the verification process.

Fixed‑deposit (FD) regulations are also being revised, with new guidelines expected to influence interest rates, tenure options and premature withdrawal penalties. Together, these changes aim to align consumer protection with current market conditions, though they may have immediate financial implications for many Indians.

Stakeholders are advised to review the detailed notifications from the respective ministries and banks to understand how the new rules will apply to their specific situations.
