Police allege a group masquerading as Shikha Micro Benefit Finance Private Ltd duped hundreds in Malahi, Badh, Patna, pocketing Rs 15 lakh before shutting down their office and absconding.
Patna district's Badh police station area in Malahi became the scene of a large‑scale fraud when a group operating under the banner of Shikha Micro Benefit Finance Private Limited collected approximately Rs 15 lakh from hundreds of local residents. The perpetrators presented themselves as representatives of the micro‑finance firm and promised quick loans or investment returns, prompting many to hand over cash.
Local authorities were alerted after victims reported that the office abruptly shut its doors and the alleged operators vanished with the money. Police have registered a case of cheating and are tracing the suspects, who are believed to have fled the state.
The incident has left many small‑scale borrowers and investors in distress, prompting the district administration to issue a warning against unverified financial agents. Officials have urged the public to verify the authenticity of any micro‑finance entity through official channels before making payments.
