Authorities say scammers in Ludhiana duped individuals of Rs 4.5 lakh by promising work permits for Russia.
Ludhiana police have reported a fraud scheme in which victims were asked to pay a total of Rs 4.5 lakh to obtain a work permit for employment in Russia. The scammers claimed they could arrange the necessary documentation and facilitate overseas placement, but no legitimate permits were issued.
According to the complaint, the fraudsters collected the money in advance and then disappeared, leaving the aspirants without any official paperwork or travel arrangements. The police are currently investigating the network behind the scam and have urged the public to verify the authenticity of any overseas job offers.
Officials warned that genuine work permits for Russia are processed through official diplomatic channels and consular services, and any unofficial agents demanding large sums should be reported immediately.
