BJP Rajya Sabha MP Dinesh Sharma, former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, has been named the new Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, succeeding Admiral D.K. Joshi.
The Union Government has announced that Dinesh Sharma, a BJP member of the Rajya Sabha and former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, will take over as the Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Sharma is set to replace Admiral D.K. Joshi, who has been serving in the post. The appointment marks Sharma's transition from state politics to a key administrative role in the Union Territory. As Lieutenant Governor, Sharma will act as the head of the territory's administration, overseeing governance and coordination with the central government. The change is expected to bring a political perspective to the post, given Sharma's extensive experience in Uttar Pradesh politics.
