Girvar Singh Tomar, a resident of Chichhawali village in Madhya Pradesh, was discharged from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in 1998. Following his dismissal, he adopted a life of religious devotion, becoming known locally as a saint.
Over the subsequent decades, Tomar pursued a series of legal petitions challenging his termination. In a landmark judgment delivered this month, the court ruled in his favour, ordering the CRPF to reinstate him and grant back pay for the intervening period.
The decision marks a rare reversal for a former paramilitary personnel after more than two decades. CRPF officials confirmed that Tomar will undergo standard medical and training clearances before resuming duties.
