The former Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly has been taken into custody on charges of a ₹4 crore land fraud scheme.

The former Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh Police on Tuesday in connection with a land fraud case involving approximately ₹4 crore. The arrest followed a probe that uncovered a scheme in which the accused allegedly misappropriated land titles and sold them to third parties.

According to police statements, the investigation began after complaints were lodged by several landowners who claimed their properties were sold without proper documentation. The authorities say the former speaker used his position to influence the transfer of land deeds.

The arrested individual was taken into custody at a police station in the state capital and is currently being held on charges of fraud and conspiracy. The case is now under the jurisdiction of the Special Crime Branch.

Police officials have assured that the investigation will be thorough and that any person involved will be prosecuted under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
