The Rajasthan forest department used over 40 camera and cage traps, along with round‑the‑clock patrols, to locate and capture a tiger near Dhumoda and Kailashpuri villages in Sawai Madhopur.
Sawai Madhopur district’s forest officials intensified surveillance after repeated tiger sightings in the villages of Dhumoda and Kailashpuri. More than forty camera traps and several cage traps were installed across the forest fringe, feeding live feeds to a central monitoring hub that operated 24 hours a day.
The continuous monitoring allowed rangers to track the animal’s movements in real time. When the tiger entered a pre‑identified zone, a cage trap was triggered, and the animal was safely restrained by the forest team.
Officials said the operation demonstrates the effectiveness of modern wildlife monitoring tools combined with traditional patrolling. The captured tiger will now be examined by veterinarians before being released back into its natural habitat.
The department plans to maintain the surveillance network to prevent future human‑wildlife conflicts and to protect the region’s dwindling tiger population.
