Food safety teams in Jaipur raided 12 major sweet shops, destroying 150 kg of spoiled ghevar and seizing 275 kg of ingredients, while sealing a production unit.

Jaipur's food safety authorities conducted simultaneous raids on twelve large sweet‑shop outlets on Monday, targeting alleged violations of hygiene and quality standards. Inspectors confiscated a total of 275 kg of raw materials, including flour, sugar and ghee, that were deemed unsafe for further processing.

During the operation, officials identified 150 kg of ghevar – a popular Rajasthani sweet – that had deteriorated beyond acceptable limits. The spoiled batches were destroyed on site to prevent any distribution to consumers.

In addition to the material seizure, the raid resulted in the sealing of a production unit linked to the inspected shops. The closure aims to allow a thorough investigation and ensure compliance with food‑safety regulations before the unit can resume operations.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has urged consumers to remain vigilant and report any concerns about the quality of sweets sold in local markets.
