A joint team of the Food Safety Department and police confiscated around 4‑5 tonnes of adulterated maava from an Ayshar vehicle in Shyampar, with 107 bags sent for laboratory testing.
A combined operation by the state Food Safety Department and local police resulted in the seizure of roughly four to five tonnes of maava suspected of adulteration. The confiscation took place in Shyampar, Madhya Pradesh, when officials stopped a vehicle registered to the trader Ayshar.
The haul comprised 107 sealed bags, collectively weighing about five metric tonnes, which were taken into custody for further examination. Officials reported that the maava appeared to be mixed with unauthorized substances, prompting immediate action under food safety regulations.
Samples from each bag have been forwarded to a certified laboratory to verify quality parameters and detect any harmful additives. The testing will determine the extent of adulteration and guide any subsequent legal or regulatory measures.
Authorities have indicated that the seizure underscores ongoing vigilance against food adulteration in the region, aiming to protect consumer health and maintain market integrity.
