Food Safety Dept conducts surprise checks on mawa and milk cake in Kotputli-Behror

The Food Safety Department of Rajasthan launched a targeted operation in the Kotputli‑Behror area as the festive season began, aiming to curb adulteration in popular sweets. Inspectors visited three identified outlets and seized representative samples of mawa and milk cake for laboratory analysis.

The department highlighted that adulteration of dairy‑based sweets often spikes during holidays, posing health risks to consumers. By testing the collected specimens, officials intend to verify compliance with statutory quality standards and deter vendors from using sub‑standard ingredients.

Results of the tests will be communicated to the respective businesses, and any violations will attract penalties as per the Food Safety and Standards Act. The department affirmed that similar surprise inspections will continue throughout the season to ensure consumer safety.
