Heavy rains have caused severe flooding in Odisha's Ganjam district, blocking major highways and leaving more than 50 villages isolated.
Heavy rainfall over the past week has triggered widespread flooding in Odisha’s Ganjam district, inundating low‑lying areas and causing rivers to overflow.
The floods have blocked key stretches of National Highway 16 and State Highway 9, cutting off road access to several towns and hamlets. Local transport authorities have reported that traffic is halted on these routes for the next 48 hours.
More than 50 villages across the district are now isolated, with residents unable to reach markets, schools or health centres. Rescue teams have begun setting up temporary shelters and distributing essential supplies.
