Heavy monsoon rains have caused flash floods across several districts of Nepal, disrupting roads and isolating villages. The disaster has left 320 Indian nationals unaccounted for, with families and authorities still unable to establish contact.
In addition to the missing, roughly 400 people, including tourists and local residents, remain stranded in flood‑hit areas. Twenty‑one pilgrims from Tamil Nadu managed to return safely after being rescued, highlighting the ongoing rescue operations.
The Indian government has responded by sending a third relief flight to Kathmandu. The aircraft carries essential supplies and an 11‑member expert panel tasked with assessing the situation on the ground and coordinating further assistance.
Officials from both countries are monitoring the situation closely, and additional rescue teams are being mobilised to reach the affected zones as the floodwaters recede.
