An explosion at a chemical manufacturing unit in Gujarat killed five employees and forced the plant to suspend all operations, officials said.
An unexpected blast ripped through a chemical plant in Gujarat on Monday, killing five workers on the spot. The incident occurred during routine production hours, and emergency services were rushed to the site but could not prevent the fatalities.
Plant management immediately halted all manufacturing activities and secured the perimeter while authorities began a preliminary investigation. The Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA) and local police have been called in to determine the cause of the explosion and assess any environmental impact.
Family members of the deceased have been informed, and the company has pledged compensation in accordance with statutory regulations. The plant remains non‑operational pending a thorough safety audit and clearance from the state’s industrial safety department.
Officials have urged nearby residents to stay clear of the area and have set up a temporary relief camp for affected families. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
