Fitch Ratings has maintained India's BBB- credit rating, citing a solid growth outlook while warning that widespread youth protests could pose fiscal risks.

Fitch Ratings on Thursday confirmed that India’s sovereign credit rating remains at BBB-.
The agency noted that India’s economy is expected to grow at a robust pace, but highlighted that large‑scale protests by young people could strain public finances.
Fitch said the country’s fiscal deficit has been narrowing, yet the uncertainty surrounding the protests could impact government revenue and spending.
The rating has been unchanged for the past decade, and Fitch reiterated that India’s debt‑service capacity remains adequate.
The agency urged policymakers to manage the unrest to avoid any adverse fiscal repercussions.
