A second blaze broke out in a garbage heap in Mohali, putting a neighboring factory at risk, officials said.
A fire reignited in a garbage heap located in Mohali, Punjab, prompting immediate response from local fire‑brigade units. The blaze, reported in the early hours, quickly spread across the waste pile, raising concerns for a factory situated adjacent to the dump site.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and began containment efforts, while authorities warned that the proximity of the industrial unit could expose it to heat and smoke damage. Precautionary measures, including temporary evacuation of non‑essential staff from the factory, were taken to safeguard workers and equipment.
The cause of the renewed fire remains under investigation, and officials have urged residents to avoid the area until the situation is fully controlled. No casualties have been reported so far, and the fire is being monitored closely to prevent further escalation.
Local administration has announced that a thorough review of waste‑management practices will be undertaken to mitigate future fire risks at the dump site.
