A major blaze broke out at Oil India's tank farm in Assam, resulting in one fatality and six injuries, officials said.
A major fire erupted at an Oil India tank farm in Assam, prompting an immediate emergency response from fire services and the company's own rescue teams.
Authorities confirmed that one worker died on the spot while six others were rushed to hospitals with burns and smoke‑inhalation injuries. Firefighters employed foam and water to contain the blaze, which was brought under control after several hours.
Preliminary checks point to a possible leak in a fuel line as the ignition source, but a full investigation is underway to determine the exact cause. Oil India announced a temporary suspension of operations at the site pending a safety audit.
The incident has sparked renewed calls from state officials for stricter industrial safety compliance to avert similar disasters in the future.
