Bengaluru police have filed a first information report against two individuals identified as BJP agents for allegedly using Form 7 to erase 5,698 voter names from the electoral roll.
Bengaluru police registered a first information report (FIR) against two persons described as agents of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The FIR alleges that the duo prepared and submitted Form 7 documents with the intent of deleting the names of 5,698 registered voters from the city’s electoral roll.
The complaint cites violations of the Indian Penal Code and the Representation of the People Act, which prohibit tampering with electoral records. Investigators have begun collecting evidence to determine whether the alleged manipulation was part of a broader scheme.
Authorities have not disclosed the identities of the accused beyond their affiliation, nor have they indicated any arrests or further legal steps. The case arrives ahead of upcoming elections, raising concerns about the integrity of voter lists in Karnataka’s capital.
The Indian Express reported the filing, noting that the FIR underscores heightened scrutiny of electoral roll management in major urban centres. The police have urged the public to report any irregularities in voter registration processes.
The matter remains under investigation, with officials indicating that any proven wrongdoing could result in criminal prosecution and possible disqualification of the individuals involved.
