The Finance Minister told Parliament that India has the potential to record economic growth exceeding 10% in the coming years.

During a recent parliamentary session, the Finance Minister highlighted that India could see economic growth rates above 10% if current policy momentum is maintained. He cited recent reforms in taxation, foreign investment, and infrastructure as key drivers that could push the economy into a higher growth bracket.

The minister emphasized that robust domestic consumption, coupled with expanding export markets, creates a favourable environment for such accelerated growth. He also pointed to the government's focus on digitalisation and skill development as factors that can boost productivity across sectors.

While optimistic, the minister cautioned that achieving double‑digit growth will require sustained fiscal discipline, stable macro‑economic conditions, and continued reforms. He urged state governments and the private sector to collaborate in order to translate policy intent into tangible outcomes.

If realised, a growth rate above 10% would mark the fastest expansion since the economic liberalisation of the early 1990s, potentially lifting millions out of poverty and strengthening India's position in the global economy.
