Amardeep Grewal, a film producer linked to the family of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s wife, was taken into custody at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, officials said.
Delhi police detained film producer Amardeep Grewal at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday, according to a statement from the airport security agency. Grewal is identified as a relative of the wife of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, a fact highlighted by media reports.
The authorities have not disclosed the specific grounds for his detention, noting that the investigation is ongoing. Sources said the police are conducting standard checks and have taken Grewal into formal custody for questioning.
Law enforcement officials declined to comment on any alleged wrongdoing, emphasizing that due process will be followed. The incident has drawn attention because of Grewal’s familial link to the state’s top political family, though no official link to any criminal activity has been confirmed.
The detention is expected to be reviewed by senior officials, and further updates will be provided as the case develops.
