Film and Photo Exhibition Showcases Meghalaya Women Farmers

A recently released documentary film, together with a curated photo exhibition, focuses on the experiences of women who cultivate the hills of Meghalaya. The visual project captures their routine agricultural activities, from sowing seeds to harvesting produce, and highlights the social and economic hurdles they face.
The exhibition presents a series of candid photographs that portray the farmers in their fields, homes, and community gatherings, offering viewers an intimate look at their resilience and dedication. By combining moving images with still photography, the initiative aims to bring broader awareness to the contributions of these women to the state's agrarian economy.
Organisers hope that the showcase will stimulate public dialogue and encourage policy support for gender‑inclusive farming practices in the region. The project underscores the importance of preserving indigenous knowledge while addressing modern challenges such as market access and climate variability.
