Police in Jammu and Kashmir have arrested a father and his son in connection with the killing of a senior police officer, saying the motive may involve a land dispute.
Police officials in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir announced the arrest of a father and his son suspected of involvement in the murder of a senior police officer. The duo was taken into custody after a series of investigations linked them to the crime scene.
Investigators indicated that the primary motive behind the killing appears to be a dispute over land ownership, a factor that often fuels violent confrontations in the region. Senior officers said the suspects had a longstanding contention with the victim regarding a parcel of property.
The slain officer, who held the rank of Senior Police Officer (SPO), was found dead earlier this year, prompting a high‑profile probe by state law‑enforcement agencies. The recent arrests are being hailed as a breakthrough in a case that had drawn considerable public attention.
Authorities have now opened a formal charge sheet and will forward the case to the court for trial, while continuing to examine any additional links to the alleged land dispute.
