Former J&K chief minister Farooq Abdullah said Pakistan is the main reason the Kashmir dispute persists and hinted at doubts over the government's motives.

Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah told Daily Excelsior that the Kashmir dispute remains alive primarily because of Pakistan's actions. He argued that Islamabad continues to stoke unrest in the region, preventing a lasting resolution.

Abdullah also voiced scepticism about the current government's intentions, suggesting that the administration may be leveraging the issue for political advantage.

The senior National Conference leader made these remarks during a press interaction, reiterating his long‑standing view that external interference hampers peace efforts. No official response from the central government was recorded at the time.
