Rail police in Buxar arrested a man who was impersonating a police officer and targeting passengers on moving trains, officials said. The suspect had been approaching commuters, claiming to be a law‑enforcement officer and demanding money. When a passenger, identified as Nitin Kumar, refused to pay, the accused allegedly shoved him from a moving carriage, resulting in Kumar’s death.
Investigators recovered Kumar’s body near the railway tracks after the incident. The arrest was made following a complaint lodged by other travelers and a swift police response at the Buxar railway station.
The accused is now in custody and faces charges of impersonation, extortion and murder, with the case being handed over to the district court for further legal proceedings.
