Police in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, have detained a man posing as a lawyer for allegedly filing fraudulent Right to Information applications.
Rewa police announced the arrest of an individual who was impersonating a lawyer to submit Right to Information (RTI) requests. The suspect was taken into custody after authorities linked him to a series of suspicious RTI applications that appeared to be part of a fraud scheme.
Investigators say the alleged fraud involved filing RTI pleas on behalf of others and collecting fees or benefits that were not legally due. By masquerading as a legal professional, the accused reportedly gained access to official channels and misused the information request process.
The police have not disclosed the name of the arrested person or the exact amount involved, but they confirmed that the case is being investigated under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the RTI Act. Further legal action will follow based on the evidence gathered.
