Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced a plan to set up a system that will ensure food, accommodation and assistance for families of patients in hospitals across the state.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis unveiled a proposal aimed at easing the burden on families of patients admitted to hospitals throughout the state. The suggested mechanism would coordinate the provision of meals, temporary lodging and on‑site guidance to help relatives navigate medical processes.
The plan envisions collaboration between the state health department, hospital administrations and local welfare agencies to set up dedicated facilities near major hospitals. These facilities would offer basic accommodation, subsidised food and a help‑desk staffed by trained personnel to assist families with information on treatment schedules, discharge procedures and financial aid options.
Fadnavis highlighted that families often travel long distances and face logistical challenges that can affect patient care. By institutionalising support services, the government aims to reduce stress for caregivers and improve overall hospital experience. The proposal is expected to be reviewed by the state cabinet before any implementation timeline is announced.
