Maharashtra leader Devendra Fadnavis sharply rebuked political opponents who criticised the tree‑cutting operation in a financially strained region.
Devendra Fadnavis, the senior leader of Maharashtra, faced criticism from opposition parties over a tree‑cutting drive carried out in a region grappling with heavy debt burdens. The opponents argued that the removal of trees would exacerbate environmental concerns and affect the livelihoods of local residents.
In response, Fadnavis delivered a terse and pointed reply, dismissing the accusations as politically motivated. He emphasized that the operation was necessary for infrastructure development and that the government was taking steps to mitigate any adverse impact on the community.
The exchange underscores the growing political friction surrounding development projects in financially stressed areas, with the ruling party defending its actions while opponents continue to raise environmental and social questions.
