India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar visited the National Palace and Museum in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, as part of a diplomatic outreach to strengthen bilateral ties.

New Delhi's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar arrived in Addis Ababa on a diplomatic mission and inspected Ethiopia's National Palace and Museum. The visit, scheduled for a single day, aimed to showcase India's interest in cultural and historical cooperation with Ethiopia.

During the tour, Jaishankar met senior Ethiopian officials who briefed him on the heritage sites' significance and ongoing preservation projects. Both sides exchanged views on expanding cultural exchanges, museum collaborations, and potential joint research initiatives.

The minister emphasized that deepening people‑to‑people contacts complements the broader strategic partnership between India and Ethiopia, which spans trade, energy and defence. The visit concluded with a joint statement reaffirming commitment to further cooperation in the cultural sector.

India and Ethiopia have been nurturing diplomatic ties for decades, and the minister's presence at the National Palace underscores the importance both governments place on heritage diplomacy as a bridge for future collaboration.
