Technical failure of electronic voting machines stalled counting in several wards of four urban bodies in Rajasthan, prompting a fresh poll on September 16 at ten designated booths.

During the counting phase of Rajasthan's urban local body elections, a malfunction in electronic voting machines (EVMs) halted the tabulation of results in a number of wards across four municipal bodies. The glitch affected constituencies in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota and Suket, leaving the outcome for those wards unresolved.

Election officials announced that the affected booths will undergo a re‑poll on 16 September. Ten polling stations—spread across the four cities—have been identified for the fresh voting exercise, and the Election Commission has directed that the process be conducted under heightened technical supervision.

The re‑poll aims to ensure that the final results reflect the voters' intent without compromise. Authorities have urged voters in the designated booths to participate on the scheduled date to complete the electoral process.

No further delays are anticipated, and the Election Commission will monitor the re‑poll closely to prevent any recurrence of technical issues.
