Two workers died after a gas exposure at ESL Steel’s Jharkhand facility, prompting the company to order an independent investigation.

ESL Steel Limited, a major steel producer in Jharkhand, announced that it will commission an independent probe following a fatal gas exposure incident that claimed two lives at its plant. The company said the investigation will be carried out by an external agency to ensure impartiality and to identify the root causes of the leak.
According to preliminary reports, the victims were employees working in a section of the plant where a toxic gas was inadvertently released. Emergency services were called, but both workers succumbed to the exposure despite prompt medical attention.
ESL Steel’s management has pledged full cooperation with the investigators and has assured workers that safety protocols will be reviewed and strengthened. The firm also indicated that it will keep the public and its stakeholders informed of the findings as they become available.
The incident has raised concerns about industrial safety standards in the region, prompting local authorities to monitor the situation closely. No further injuries have been reported so far.
