The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar carried out simultaneous raids on the house of Rinku Patak, the husband of the Kaseria Nagar Panchayat President, and on a nearby gas agency on Tuesday. Officers entered the premises, seized documents and electronic devices, and placed the locations under investigation for alleged financial crimes.
Rinku Patak is known to be a close associate of the notorious figure Mukesh Patak, who has been linked to several extortion cases in the region. Investigators allege that Rinku may have been involved in “rangdari” (political extortion) activities on behalf of Mukesh, prompting the current operation.
Senior officials of the EOU confirmed that the raids are part of a broader probe into organized extortion networks operating in Bihar. They stated that further inquiries will determine the extent of any illegal proceeds and that legal action will follow if sufficient evidence is found.
