A leading environmental organization has welcomed the Jammu and Kashmir government's Ease of Doing Business reforms, while warning that any dilution of environmental safeguards would be unacceptable.
A prominent environmental NGO has publicly backed the Jammu and Kashmir government's recent Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) reforms, saying the measures could boost investment and simplify regulatory procedures.
At the same time, the group cautioned that the reforms must not erode existing environmental safeguards, urging authorities to keep rigorous impact assessments and pollution‑control standards intact.
State officials have indicated that the new framework will introduce a single‑window clearance system for businesses, while environmental clearances will continue to be overseen by the Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Board.
The NGO pledged to monitor implementation closely, stressing that sustainable development should remain a core condition of any business‑friendly policy.
