Rhutso emphasized that engineers should be given a greater say in shaping Nagaland's development projects and policies.

Nagaland's development agenda was the focus of a recent statement by Rhutso, who called for a more prominent involvement of engineers in planning and execution. He argued that technical expertise is essential for sustainable infrastructure, urban planning, and resource management in the state.

According to Rhutso, current planning mechanisms often overlook the practical insights that engineers bring, leading to delays and cost overruns. By integrating engineers early in the decision‑making process, he believes projects can be better aligned with ground realities and long‑term goals.

The call comes at a time when Nagaland is seeking to accelerate its economic growth through new road networks, renewable energy initiatives, and digital infrastructure. Stakeholders from the state government and professional bodies are expected to discuss the proposal in upcoming planning committees.

If adopted, the recommendation could reshape the state's development framework, giving engineers a formal seat at policy forums and encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration across ministries.
