### Emotional Tributes Paid to Revolutionary Poet R. Huchcha Reddy on His Second Death Anniversary

“Whenever Huchcha Reddy played the tamate, people would leave their work and gather to watch him” – Hanumanthappa Mannapuri

Devadurga, October 18: A heartfelt tribute and memorial programme was organised in Devadurga by the district committee of the Revolutionary Cultural Forum (RCF) to mark the second death anniversary of revolutionary poet and gifted singer R. Huchcha Reddy.

Speaking at the programme, Hanumanthappa Mannapuri, district president of the Revolutionary Cultural Forum, recalled R. Huchcha Reddy’s artistic talent and his contribution to creating social awareness through revolutionary songs.

“Whenever Huchcha Reddy began playing the tamate (traditional percussion instrument), people would leave their work, come along the road and gather to watch him. When he sang, his songs would send shivers down the listeners’ spines. His songs reflected the pain of the people, their struggles and social realities,” he said.

Recalling the famous lines from Huchcha Reddy’s song, ‘Chooru Choorayito Raichuru, Chorara Palayito Raichuru’ (Raichur has been shattered into pieces; Raichur has fallen into the hands of thieves), Hanumanthappa Mannapuri said that he continued to listen to the song regularly and that its deep social concern remained etched in his mind.

Revolutionary poet R. Huchcha Reddy left an indelible mark on people’s hearts through his songs and mastery of the tamate. The programme remembered his revolutionary thoughts and artistic contributions, emphasising that his legacy should continue to inspire future generations.

Several people attended the programme, including Burappa Gabbur, Basavaraj Jayam, Narasannagowda, B. Ganekal, Venkatesh Jalahalli, Lakshman Masarkal, Vijayakumar Ballidev, Niranjan Masarkal, Bhimanna Anjal Jalahalli and David Maitri Masarkal.
