The Election Commission has revamped the online voter registration process, mandating separate OTP verification and e‑signature for Form 6 and the declaration form.
The Election Commission has issued new guidelines that overhaul the online voter registration procedure. Under the revised rules, applicants must now provide a distinct OTP and e‑signature for both Form 6 and the accompanying declaration form.
Previously, a single OTP and signature could be used for the entire application. The split verification is intended to strengthen the authentication process and reduce the risk of fraudulent registrations.
The change applies to all online applications and does not affect the traditional paper‑based registration method. Voters will need to update their application steps on the official portal or mobile app.
Election officials say the move will improve data integrity and streamline the verification process for the upcoming elections.
