After a video of seized liquor went viral, an inquiry uncovered FIR tampering in the case, prompting the suspension of eight police personnel and a watchman in Munger, Bihar, with a recommendation to suspend the senior station officer.
A video showing confiscated liquor from a raid in Munger went viral on social media, sparking public outcry over the handling of the case. The footage raised questions about the integrity of the investigation and prompted senior officials to order a probe.
The inquiry found clear evidence that the First Information Report (FIR) in the liquor case had been altered. As a result, eight police officers directly involved in the investigation and the watchman posted at the police station were suspended pending further action.
In addition to the suspensions, the investigating team recommended that the senior police station officer, who heads the local thana, also be suspended for failing to prevent the procedural breach. The recommendations are now with the district superintendent for final approval.
The incident underscores growing concerns about accountability within law‑enforcement agencies in Bihar, especially when public trust is shaken by perceived misconduct.
Authorities have said they will continue to monitor the case and take appropriate disciplinary measures to restore confidence in the police force.
