An ex‑Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader alleges that the Enforcement Directorate’s investigation into Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is intended to split the opposition INDIA alliance.
The Enforcement Directorate has opened an investigation into Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, alleging possible violations of financial regulations. The probe, initiated by the central agency, targets the state leader’s alleged involvement in undisclosed transactions.
A former leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) publicly asserted that the timing and focus of the ED action are designed to weaken the newly formed opposition coalition known as the INDIA bloc. He argued that the move seeks to create fissures among the alliance partners ahead of upcoming elections.
The INDIA bloc, comprising parties such as the Congress, CPI(M) and other regional outfits, was assembled to present a united front against the ruling party. Any development that could erode its cohesion is viewed by critics as politically motivated.
While the ED has not released detailed findings, the former CPM leader’s comments highlight growing concerns that investigative agencies are being leveraged for electoral advantage. No official response from Vijayan’s office has been reported as of now.
