The Enforcement Directorate has initiated proceedings against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, a move that former CPM leader alleges is designed to fracture the INDIA coalition.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has formally launched an investigation against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, citing allegations of financial irregularities. The move was announced in a press release issued by the ED’s Kerala office on Tuesday.

Former Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader K. K. Nair publicly criticized the action, asserting that it is a politically motivated attempt to split the INDIA coalition. Nair said the investigation is aimed at destabilizing the ruling alliance and undermining the CM’s authority.

Pinarayi Vijayan, who has led Kerala since 2011, has previously faced scrutiny over land and infrastructure projects, but no formal charges have been filed against him. The ED’s probe will examine financial records and related documents to determine any wrongdoing.

Political analysts note that the timing of the investigation coincides with upcoming state elections, raising concerns about potential electoral implications. The Kerala government has yet to issue a formal response to the ED’s announcement.
