A probe into alleged narcotic distribution inside Ajmer Central Jail revealed 1,283 calls to a prison STD number and nearly ₹5 million credited to related accounts.
Investigators probing a suspected illegal drug supply network inside Ajmer Central Jail have uncovered a pattern of telephone activity and financial transfers. Records show that the prison STD line received 1,283 calls, each linked to attempts to move narcotic pills into the facility.
Financial analysis of accounts associated with the callers revealed credit entries totalling approximately ₹49.80 lakh (about ₹5 million). The money trail suggests payments made to facilitate the contraband operation and to compensate intermediaries.
Based on the evidence, five individuals have been formally charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The case is now under the jurisdiction of the Rajasthan police and will be forwarded to the court for trial.
Authorities have emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing and that further inquiries may uncover additional participants or related financial links.
