The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) intercepted more than four kilograms of MDMA hidden in the luggage of two travelers arriving from Delhi at Bhopal's ISBT and detained them.
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) conducted a drug bust at Bhopal's Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) on Tuesday. Two passengers who had travelled from Delhi by bus were found carrying 4.321 kilograms of MDMA, concealed in a bag and within the folds of their trousers. The seized narcotics were handed over to local authorities for further investigation. Both individuals have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and are currently in police custody. The operation underscores DRI's continued focus on intercepting drug trafficking routes that use public transport hubs.
The seizure was reported by local media, citing statements from DRI officials who said the operation was part of a broader crackdown on drug smuggling networks operating between northern and central India. No further details about the alleged traffickers' affiliations were disclosed.
Authorities have not released information on any additional arrests or the intended destination of the drugs. The case will be forwarded to the appropriate judicial bodies for prosecution under existing drug control laws.
