Dog Packs Harass Pedestrians in Mohali as Feeding Scheme Stalls for Six Months

Several residents of Mohali have complained that groups of stray dogs are lunging at people walking along busy streets and market areas, causing fear and occasional injuries. The incidents have been reported across multiple neighborhoods, with eyewitnesses describing the dogs as aggressive and unprovoked.

The city corporation had announced a dog‑feeding point scheme six months ago, aiming to provide designated feeding stations to keep stray dogs away from public spaces. However, the project has not progressed beyond the planning stage, and no feeding points have been installed to date.

Municipal officials acknowledge the delay, citing budgetary constraints and pending approvals as the main hurdles. They have promised to expedite the implementation and are exploring additional measures such as animal control teams and public awareness campaigns to curb the stray‑dog menace.
