The DMK party has boycotted the Tamil Nadu government's proposal for new official cars, with 59 legislators rejecting the allocation in the state assembly.

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has formally refused to endorse the Tamil Nadu government's proposal to procure new official cars for legislators.
The decision was taken during a session of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly in Chennai, where 59 MLAs voted against the allocation of official vehicles, citing cost concerns and the need for fiscal prudence.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's administration had earlier announced the plan to upgrade the fleet, arguing it would improve security and efficiency for lawmakers. However, the DMK's boycott underscores growing dissent within the ruling coalition over expenditure priorities.
Political analysts note that the move could pressure the government to revisit its spending agenda ahead of upcoming state projects, while opposition parties are likely to capitalize on the controversy.
