From 2 October, Biju Patnaik International Airport will launch a direct service to Bangkok, marking the city’s first nonstop international flight.
Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar is set to begin a direct flight to Bangkok on 2 October, providing the capital of Odisha with its first nonstop international connection. The service will be operated by a major carrier, with an initial schedule of four weekly flights using modern narrow‑body aircraft.
The new route is expected to boost tourism and business ties between eastern India and Thailand, offering travelers a convenient alternative to the current multi‑stop itineraries via Delhi or Kolkata. Aviation officials say the frequency may be increased later based on demand.
Local hotels, travel agencies and trade bodies have welcomed the development, citing potential growth in inbound tourists, increased cargo movement, and greater exposure for Odisha’s cultural and industrial offerings.
