The Digital Bharat Nidhi has formalised a partnership with the Tamil Nadu government to advance the BharatNet broadband project across the state.
The Digital Bharat Nidhi, a government‑backed funding initiative, signed an agreement with Tamil Nadu's authorities to strengthen the BharatNet broadband rollout in the state. The pact focuses on extending high‑speed internet connectivity to rural schools, health centres and villages that still lack reliable access.
Under the agreement, the fund will support the deployment of optical‑fibre networks and last‑mile solutions in underserved areas, aligning with the central government's goal of universal broadband coverage. Officials from both sides highlighted that the collaboration is expected to accelerate digital inclusion and improve delivery of e‑services in the region.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior representatives of the Digital Bharat Nidhi and Tamil Nadu's Department of Information Technology, who reiterated their commitment to meeting the project's timelines and quality standards.
