Digital Bharat Nidhi inks BharatNet pact with Chhattisgarh to boost rural connectivity

Digital Bharat Nidhi and officials from the Chhattisgarh state administration formally signed a BharatNet agreement in the state capital, marking a collaborative step to enhance digital infrastructure in the region. The pact outlines joint responsibilities for deploying broadband connectivity across thousands of villages that currently lack reliable internet access.\n\nBharatNet, a flagship program of the central government, seeks to lay optical fiber networks to enable high‑speed broadband in rural India. Under the new agreement, Digital Bharat Nidhi will coordinate with state agencies to fast‑track the laying of fiber, installation of last‑mile connectivity and integration with existing telecom services.\n\nThe initiative is expected to improve access to e‑education, tele‑medicine, agricultural advisory services and e‑governance for residents of Chhattisgarh's remote areas. Stakeholders anticipate that the enhanced connectivity will also attract digital enterprises and create new employment opportunities in the state.\n\nImplementation will be monitored through a joint steering committee, with periodic reviews to ensure targets are met and any operational challenges are addressed promptly.
