Minister Dhar assured that normal life will resume in the border areas following recent talks between Assam and Meghalaya.
The governments of Assam and Meghalaya concluded a series of high‑level discussions aimed at easing tensions along their disputed border. The talks, held over two days in Guwahati, focused on resolving long‑standing issues related to land encroachments, illegal settlements and the movement of people across the frontier.
During a press briefing after the meeting, Minister Dhar emphasized that the dialogue had produced a clear roadmap for de‑escalation. He told reporters that both states had agreed to implement joint monitoring mechanisms and to restore normal administrative functions in the affected villages within the next fortnight.
Dhar added that the assurance of normalcy is intended to reassure residents who have faced disruptions in daily life, including access to markets, schools and health services. He urged local communities to cooperate with the newly formed task force and warned that any attempts to undermine the agreement would be dealt with firmly.
The minister concluded by stating that the successful conclusion of the talks marks a significant step toward lasting peace in the region, and that the state governments will continue to engage constructively to address any residual issues.
