Dhanteras celebrations kick off in Rajasthan as new vehicles line up at temples

Rajasthan entered the festive season on Dhanteras, with devotees bringing newly purchased vehicles to local temples as part of traditional worship. Across major towns, rows of cars, motorcycles and scooters were seen parked near shrines, reflecting the custom of offering the first purchase to the deity for prosperity.

Shopkeepers in market areas reported a surge in footfall, as the auspicious day traditionally marks the start of Diwali shopping. Traders expect the early sales momentum to translate into higher revenues throughout the upcoming festival period.

Local authorities have coordinated with temple committees to manage traffic and ensure safety around the crowded premises. The celebrations underscore the blend of religious devotion and commercial activity that characterises the Dhanteras observance in the state.
