Devotees Flood Indore Temples as Navratri Begins with Idol Installations

Navratri kicked off on Sunday in Indore with large crowds gathering at goddess temples for early morning darshan and idol installations.
Indore welcomed the start of the Shardiy Navratri on Sunday, drawing worshippers to the city’s numerous goddess shrines. From early morning, devotees queued at the temples to offer prayers and seek blessings for the nine‑day festival.
In addition to temple visits, families and community groups set up temporary pandals and homes for the auspicious "ghat sthapna" – the ceremonial placement of Navratri idols. The installations were timed to coincide with the prescribed muhurat, adding a spiritual rhythm to the celebrations.
The atmosphere was marked by chants, music and the vibrant colours of traditional attire, reflecting the cultural fervour of the region. Organisers reported smooth crowd management, and the festivities are expected to continue with daily rituals and cultural programs throughout the Navratri period.
