Devotee Walks 50 km to Carry 54‑Foot Kanwar in Rajasthan

Rajasthan witnessed a remarkable act of devotion as a pilgrim walked 50 kilometres on foot to transport a 54‑foot tall Kanwar, the ceremonial bamboo pole used in the annual Kanwar Yatra. The devotee, whose identity was not disclosed, began the journey from a nearby village early on Saturday, covering the distance without any motorised assistance. Upon reaching the destination, the massive Kanwar was hoisted at the local Shiva temple, where it will remain for the duration of the festival. Local authorities and temple officials praised the pilgrim's stamina and commitment, noting that such long treks are a traditional expression of faith among Kanwar Yatra participants. The event underscores the enduring popularity of the Kanwar pilgrimage, especially in northern states where devotees often undertake arduous walks to honor Lord Shiva.
