Heavy rains have caused severe flooding in Nepal, leading to higher water levels in rivers flowing into Bihar, prompting local authorities to monitor the situation.

Heavy monsoon rains over the Himalayan region have resulted in flash floods across several districts of Nepal, displacing families and damaging infrastructure. The surge has swollen the Koshi and other trans‑border rivers that originate in Nepal and flow downstream into the Indian state of Bihar.

As the water levels rise, districts along the Bihar border are reporting increased flow in the Koshi, Bagmati and other tributaries. While no major inundation has been recorded yet, authorities are issuing advisories for residents in low‑lying areas to remain vigilant.

The Nepalese disaster management agency has activated emergency response teams, and the Bihar State Disaster Management Authority is coordinating with its counterpart across the border to share real‑time data. Preliminary assessments suggest that the flood could strain irrigation and transport networks if the rivers breach their banks in the coming days.
